Our only
Class Notes input comes from a
‘somewhat’ long lost classmate, Erlinda Enriquez Panlilio. She writes from Manilla, Philippines.
“ I am considered part of class 1961 although I did not earn a Cornell
degree. I already had an undergraduate degree--BSHE major in Foods and
Nutrition from the University of the Philippines (UP) when I enrolled in
Cornell's Hotel School as a "Special Student." I went back to the UP
after 35 years when I obtained an MA in English, major in Creative Writing, in
the year 2000. My thesis became a best-selling book that was sold on Amazon,
titled "Teacher to Tycoon-- the Life and Times of Trinidad Diaz
Enriquez." It was adjudged "Best Biography" by the Manila Critics
Circle in the National Book Awards of 2000. My husband, Dr. Rebecco
E. Panlilio, passed away in 1999. He did a postgraduate course in Obstetrics
and Gynecology at the Univ. of Pennsylvania while I was at Cornell. We had four
children, two of whom live in London and are married to Brits. I have 10
grandchildren, the youngest of whom is a freshman at Harvard. “
We are at a
lull in reporting on classmates and activities.
Following the annual class dues mailings we should provide a fuller
edition for the next columns. I know you
will be reading Cornellians online and read further about the loss of classmate
David Kessler, long time class officer and supporter of our class and
Cornell.
